BOUNDARY MATTERS: Palisade fencing has been installed along both sides of the short freight spur which connects Ketton cement works in Rutland with the Network Rail line between Manton Jct and Peterborough. The two metre high fence replaces the previous wire and post fencing and now makes photographs on the spur virtually impossible. A spokesperson for Hanson Ketton Cement said the move was to stop trespassing on the tracks. However, after putting the new fencing up, the company has realised the visual impact and is in the process of getting the fence replaced by a deer/horse type net fence, which it says will blend much better with the landscape. The work should be completed around easter.
