ALAN Keef Ltd AK11/1984 has been donated to Hayling Light Railway by Thorpe Park Resort.
The loco was originally built as a steam outline diesel for Thorpe Park’s ‘Treasure Island Railway’, which ran at the site during the 1980s, and was retained as a works and rescue locomotive for Thorpe Park’s subsequent ‘Canada Creek Railway’ attraction.
Track from the Canada Creek Railway (CCR), which operated from 1989 to 2011 and was lifted in 2016, has also been given to the Hayling line. The Seven Lamb-built locos and coaches employed on the CCR are understood to have also been saved, one set having gone to the East Links Family Park in Scotland.
