TRAM-TRAIN light rail vehicles built by Stadler, in nearby Valencia, began working on the Alicante to Dénia metre gauge line in Spain on January 16.
The line had been shut north of Calp for rebuilding for several years and the tram-trains will replace older DMUs that worked between Dénia and Benidorm.
However, while the line has reopened, through Alicante to Dénia services are currently not possible as a modern new viaduct is being built suitable for use by the tram-trains (which are heavier than the DMUs they replace).
