THE Severn Valley Railway’s September 28-October 1 diesel gala is going to be a hydraulic special. The ‘Diesel Bash – the Magnificent Seven’ will feature seven main line diesel-hydraulics.
These are due to be four operational residents, plus visitors, making this the largest gathering of working ‘Westerns’, ‘Warships’ and ‘Hymeks’ seen in preservation. This will be the first time all four surviving ‘Hymeks’ will have been seen together. Running will be ‘Warship’
No. D821 Greyhound, Class 52s Nos.D1015 Western Champion and D1062 Western Courier alongside three visiting‘Hymeks’: West Somerset Railway’s Nos. D7017 and D7018, and East Lancashire Railway’s newly restored No. D7076. On display will be Class 52 No. D1013 Western Ranger and ‘Hymek’No. D7029 undergoing restoration.
There will be further ‘Diesel Bash-themed’ events taking place around the time, including photo-shoots and excursion days.
