WORK on rebuilding the Foynes line continues, and by July 10, Iarnród Éireann contractors had removed over 10 miles of track as far as the 16 milepost from Foynes.
All redundant material is being brought to Foynes for disposal. New compounds have been established at Knockdromin, Adare station and Kilgobin to assist the removal of track towards Limerick, which is expected to be completed by the end of August. IÉ has confirmed that it expects contractor Sisk to start work on renewing Robertstown viaduct near Foynes in quarter three, with its reconstruction completed in early 2024.
