AS PART of its centenary year celebrations, the NRM’s‘A3’No. 60103 Flying Scotsman returned to its home city over the long weekend of November 10-12.
The world famous locomotive was displayed at Freightliner Railport in Doncaster, as its actual birthplace at Doncaster Works (‘The Plant’) was knocked down in 2008 and the land reused for housing.
The first day of the three was a private event led by Freightliner UK &Europe chief executive officer Tim Shoveller, and Doncaster Mayor Ros Jones, which also saw No. 66508 named City of Doncaster. This was followed by a ticketed event over the next two days allowing the public to get up close to the‘A3’in light steam.
