Major repairs for CCLR No. 24

THE comprehensive overhaul of Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway’s Fairbourne-built 2-6-2 No. 24 continues at John Fowler Engineering in Bouth, Cumbria.

Work has included strengthening the rear part of the frames, installing new wheels, axles and crankpins and fitting new tubes and washout plugs to the boiler.The tender is now receiving attention which will include new side plates, alterations to the seat and extensive work on the running gear including new wheelsets.
