ARAILWAY in a Liverpool park that has remained untouched for around 15 years is now being reopened.
Ateam of volunteers is in the process of reviving the 7¼in gauge railway in the grounds of Croxteth Park, a stately home owned by Liverpool City Council. The local authority said the railway has remained dormant for many years and was last operated by JackWoods through acompany called Forest Model Engineering.
In the intervening period, nature took hold, with the track becoming overgrown and buried beneath leaf mulch and earth.
