ACONTRACT to build the new £93.4 million station at Cambridge South has been awarded to JMurphy and Sons Ltd by Network Rail.
The new station will be situated next to the city’s biomedical campus and forms part of the proposed East-West Rail route, which aims to unlock £103 billion of economic growth.
The station will have four platforms and the actual building will be a two-storey design, and its facilities will include lifts providing stepfree access to all platforms, accessible toilets, baby change facilities, waiting area and space for retail/catering and ticket vending machines.
