Big LMSR investment
THELondonMidlandandScottishRailway Companyintendtospend£10,000,000 onlocomotives, carriages, wagons, steel rails, constructionworkandtools.Thefact wasannouncedrecentlybytheprime ministerbyreasonofitsbearinguponthe unemploymentquestion.
Among the works contemplated are the doubling of the line between Crewe andWeaver Junction for a distance of about 13 miles, additional loops between Manchester and Carlisle, extended siding accommodation at Camden and Willesden, the strengthening and partial reconstruction of about 30 bridges –plus station improvements atTilbury Docks, Warrington, Bangor and Manchester Exchange.
