STAR LETTER
Dover not Brighton
1923 Grouping locos
More railway bears
THE photo on page 19 of the January issue is said to depict a goods train at Brighton, but this is a train on the Eastern Docks Railway in Dover. The ex-SECR P Class loco seems to be returning a couple of empty fuel oil tanks on its two-mile journey from the Eastern Docks to the main line connection at the Western Docks. It is passing the fine range of Regency buildings in Waterloo Crescent, at the junction with Cambridge Road [which are still there -Ed].
WE are indeed fortunate in having a spectacular collection of pre-Grouping locomotives dotted around the country, some in working order (January issue).
