Ross is seen with its first train of its last day in service at Abbeydale on October 29.
DAVID BURLEIGH
POWERFUL Thomas II 0-4-0ST+T Ross was withdrawn for its first overhaul on November 5, following over nine years of service.
Carrying Caledonian Railway blue livery and the number 273, the 7¼ in gauge loco is owned by David Burleigh and resides at the Abbeydale Miniature Railway in Sheffield.
No stranger to visiting other miniature lines, Ross can often be found touring with ‘Tinkerbell’ 0-4-2T Captain Hook built by David Vere in 2001, which also resides at Abbeydale.
While visiting the Moors Valley Railway in Dorset, it hauled a 12-coach train alone and so gained the nickname ‘The Little Engine that can’.
