BILLINGHAM station in Teesside has emerged from its £3.6million programme of upgrades which have been designed to improve passengers’ journeys.
Anew bridge has been installed connecting the station’s two platforms, along with two new lifts which provide step-free access as under the Access for All scheme. The station’s platforms have been rebuilt and a series of car park and access route improvements have also been made. It is the biggest upgrade seen at the station since resiting and rebuilding by BR’s Eastern Region in 1966.
