Romney, Hythe &Dymchurch Railway’s (RH&DR) 1949-built 0-4-0PM No. PW2 long nicknamed (and now officially known as) Scooter works a demonstration permanent way train past Burmarsh Road on November 5 during the line’s Unusual Trains Weekend. The photographer reports that this train was not hanging around, passing Burmarsh Road Halt at what appeared to be full line speed of around 25mph. Fortunately, the floodwaters resulting from Storm Ciaran reported in The RM, December, which had affected RH&DR operations between New Romney and Dungeness had receded in time for the event, which also featured tender-first running, top and tailed trains, double and triple-headers and one service including a loco sandwiched in the middle of the train.
