A NEW railtour announced by the Branch Line Society will take top-and-tailed Class 50s to the seaside resort of Great Yarmouth and port of Lowestoft on July 15.
The ‘Merry Wherry’ tour originates in the East Midlands and will feature Class 50 Alliance loco No. 50007 Hercules and the Hanson and Hall loco No. 50008 Thunderer.
Starting from Derby (06.48), the tour will call at Leicester, then reverse to call at East Midlands Parkway, Nottingham and Grantham, running via the Peterborough March Independent line, March Up Goods, Ely West Curve, Brandon Down Goods before setting down at Norwich and then running on to Lowestoft where a break is taken.
