FOLLOWING recent complaints over ‘sold out’ messages on ticket booking sites, Avanti West Coast has altered the message prospective passengers see.
When a train now shows ‘tickets unavailable’, a click on the info symbol will tell passengers the train might be fully booked due to a big event or has not been confirmed as running at that time. The new message additionally points out users can opt to buy a flexible Off-Peak or Anytime ticket at the station without a reservation, and that Avanti trains have unreserved carriages with no guarantee of a seat. Or they can choose to travel at a different time or day, as on-the-day walk-up tickets are always available to purchase.
