THE centenary of the merging of the pre-Grouping North Staffordshire Railway (NSR) with the LMS will be celebrated at the Foxfield Railway over the weekend of July 14-16.
Dubbed ‘Knotty 100’, the event will see the inaugural operation of Foxfield’s fourcoach Victorian heritage train composed of three NSR carriages and the recentlyrestored First Class Midland Railway Family Saloon No. 348 of 1884, which will be running in public service for the first time in 75 years.
The gala will also see the official entry into service of Bagnall 0-4-0ST Hawarden
(2623/1940) into traffic after a 15-year restoration.
