■ CORNWALL’S Poldark Tin Mine site has plans to extend the narrow gauge mine railway utilising a lengthy section of track installed some 50 years ago. Adding around three quarters of a mile to the existing line will produce about one and a half miles of railway in all. The intention is to assist movement of materials around the site and into the mine rather than public use, although operation of demonstration trains is envisaged.
■ MOSELEY Railway Trust used 48hp Ruston 198297/1940 Vulcan to pull passenger trains for the first time at Apedale Valley Light Railway during the line’s May 27-29 Military Trains event. The loco last hauled passengers at its previous Abbey Light Railway home, which closed in 2012. With its air braking system now updated the loco will now see regular use working passenger trains at Apedale.
