New bridge opens A TEMPORARY road bridge spanning the River Leven in Fife, was opened to traffic on May 5. The structure is expected to carry 18,000 vehicle movements per day and will allow Network Rail to demolish the A955 Bawbee bridge which is weightrestricted, 75 years old and suffering from significant deterioration due to chlorine contamination and corrosion. Spanning the Leven station site, a decision made was to replace the bridge as part of the Levenmouth rail link construction, minimising future disruption. The work is being funded by Fife Council and is being delivered on its behalf by Network Rail.
