In addition to the Avanti West Coast order, Hitachi’s Newton Aycliffe plant is also working on completion of 33 five-car Class 810 ‘Aurora’ bi-mode units for East Midlands Railway. Pictured on May 3, No. 810001 has not yet been fitted out internally, but will be used for testing. Its front end appearance is one of several differences to other ‘800 series’ units. Destined for Avanti, Class 807 No. 807002 is seen in the background and No. 805002 immediately behind the ‘Aurora’ unit.
