THE Bon Accord Locomotive Society, owner of former Aberdeen Gasworks Barclay 0-4-0ST Bon Accord at the Royal Deeside Railway, now has another loco from the same works. This is Motor Rail 5763 of 1957, acquired from its longterm home on the Strathspey Railway. The‘Simplex’4wDM entered preservation in 1973 when transferred from British Gas Corporation’s Aberdeen Works, where it was No. 1D. It moved there in 1964 from Inchgreen Gasworks, Greenock, where delivered new and numbered 638.
The aim is for the 85hp, 12-ton diesel to be restored to operate alongside Bon Accord at the Aberdeenshire railway.

‘THUMPER’ DEMU ARRIVES AT THE BLUEBELL RAILWAY: CLASS 207 DEMU No. 1305 (207202), bought by the Bluebell Railway (RM Jan. P71), was delivered by road to Sheffield Park on January 19. With DTSO No. 60904 in front and DMBSO No. 60130 behind, the ‘Thumper’ waits in front of Sheffield Park loco shed after the pair had been coupled up. On January 26, the unit ran under its own power to Horsted Keynes, where renovation will take
place.
