PLANS to use No. 37240 on a number of diesel tours scheduled by Vintage Trains (VT) is being delayed after it was revealed that the loco needed new wheel bearings.
To ensure the tours still run while the bearings are ordered and fitted, VT will hire in No. 37403 Isle of Mull from the Scottish Railway Preservation Society.
The first appearance of 37403 will be on March 11 on a tour from Dorridge via Birmingham Moor Street and Kidderminster to Cardiff and Cwm Bargoed. Seats for this tour begin at £99 for adults.
