As part of the phased withdrawal of its ‘Castle Class’ HST sets, Great Western Railway moved the first of two sets from Laira to the West Somerset Railway for ‘warm storage’ on September 11, Nos. 43042/43162 taking four-coach set GW03 to Minehead. The set was used in service at the WSR on the weekend of September 23/24, working two round trips between Minehead and Bishops Lydeard on both days, and is seen on the first day looking very much at home as it arrives at Blue Anchor with the 10.00 from Minehead.
