NETWORK Rail signalling installation teams have completed the upgrade and transfer of control from Peterborough Power Signal Box (PSB) to theYork Regional Operating Centre (ROC).
Peterborough controlled the East Coast Main Line (ECML) from just north of Biggleswade to StokeTunnel, as well as interfacing to manual fringe ’boxes on lines towards Leicester and March.
The PSB, which is located just north of the station, will be re-purposed as a training centre. The manual ’box at Eastfield, also just north of the station and which controls the local yard, will remain in use.
In time, this section of the ECML from King’s Cross to Stoke Tunnel will move to in-cab signalling when Network Rail fully extends EuropeanTrain Control System (ETCS) as part of a £1billion project.
