TO commemorate the 70th anniversary of their introduction, an event in the Czech city of Olomouc gathered together nine former Czechoslovak Railways Class 140 electric locos in August.
The event included special trains and a line-up of all the locos at Olomouc depot.
The Class 140 design, built by Škoda, was the first new electric loco design built for Czechoslovakian Railways – Československé státní dráhy – (ČSD) after the Second World War, as the country began a programme of 3kV DC electrification for main lines linking Prague with eastern Slovakia.
