Engineering prototypes of Railway Icons’ prototype HST power car No. 41001.
LOCOMOTION Models – the official model shop of the National Railway Museum – has teamed up with Rails of Sheffield to create a new range called Railway Icons.
The first model released under this banner is going to be a ‘OO’ gauge version of prototype HST power car No. 41001, which has been commissioned from Bachmann. Engineering prototypes have already been received and the livery samples are expected towards the end of the year ahead of a mid-2024 release date.
Features include a five pole, twin shaft motor with two flywheels providing drive to both bogies; electrical pickup from all wheels; diecast metal chassis block; and tension lock coupling mounted via a coupling pocket to NEM362 standards fitted to a body-mounted, close-coupling mechanism at the inner end.
