THE Rother Valley Railway’s reinstatement of the missing rail link between Bodiam and Robertsbridge Junction is progressing after the Transport & Works Act Order (RM June 2023), which provides the legal powers, came into force on August 2.
Granted in May 9, the order was applied for by the railway, working in partnership with the Kent & East Sussex Railway which runs the existing heritage line between Tenterden and Bodiam.
The order was subject to a 12-week standstill period to allow time for any appeals to be submitted against the granting of the application.
Preparations are now well underway for an early start to the extensive environmental survey of the yet to be built two mile long‘missing link’central section of the line – namely from Northbridge Street to Udiam, formerly the site of Junction Road Halt.
