THE Severn Valley Railway continued its celebration of the 100th anniversary of the formation of the‘Big Four’railway companies at its September 14-17 Autumn Steam Gala.
Four guest locomotives formed part of the lineup – namely‘B1’No. 61306 Mayflower, Bagnall 0-6-0ST No. 401 Vulcan, USATC‘S160’ No. 2253 Omaha and BR‘2MT’ 2-6-2T No. 41312.
Homefleet players on the roster included No. 43106‘The Flying Pig’GWR 4-6-0 No. 4930 Hagley Hall, GWR 0-6-0PT No. 7714, SR 4-6-2 No. 21C127 Taw Valley and BR‘4MT’No. 75069.
In addition to overnight running on both Friday and Saturday nights, the event featured local trains stopping each day at the SVR’s tiny Eardington station. LMS 2-6-0 No. 43106 broke a banner on the‘first’train to stop at Eardington in 41 years on September 14.
