NETWORK Rail is to face prosecution over the Carmont derailment that occurred on August 12, 2020 when three people, including two traincrew, were killed.
Six other passengers were also injured, but the train was lightly loaded at the time due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The company has been summoned to appear at the High Court in Aberdeen on September 7 and the process being used by the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (Section 76 of the Criminal Procedure Scotland Act 1995) suggests that NR plans to plead guilty.
