IT is estimated that 70,000 lorry journeys will be avoided by the use of a spoil conveyor linking two HS2 construction sites in Buckinghamshire.
Stretching for 0.8 miles, crossing the A413 and the Marylebone-Aylesbury railway line, the conveyor is expected to carry 550,000 cubic metres (over 719,000 cubic yards) of chalk and other excavated material over the next two years, which will be used in earthworks elsewhere on the route.
