■ HAYLING Light Railway’s Alan Keef Ltd 4wDH AK11/1984, donated to the line by Thorpe Park Resort (RM, April), has returned to the railway after rebuilding by its original manufacturer. The new bodywork has been completed in a green livery with cream and black lining. While it has entered service, the name it will carry has yet to be unveiled.
■ PERRYGROVE Railway will progress repainting of its present red carriages into a new dark green livery over the next three years. The first coach in the new livery returned to service on July 14 after respraying by a local company.
■ WESTONZOYLAND Pumping Station Museum is preparing the trackbed for an extension of the 2ft gauge railway to the far end of the museum site. The route has been cleared of vegetation preparatory to laying ballast and sleepers. The extension will involve creating a new level crossing into the public car park and using two points to build a loading position for visiting locos and a wagon storage siding.
■ HALESWORTH to Southwold Narrow Gauge Railway (HSNGR) moved is first passenger carrying vehicle, wagon No. 3 (a new open wagon body with seats on an ex-RNAD four-wheel chassis), to Blythburgh station site on July 25.Tests on the short length of reinstated 3ft gauge track were then undertaken with HSNGR’s Greenwood and Batley 4WBE hauling the vehicle, coupled to replicated Southwold wagon No. 18, back and forth.
