A RARE visitor for the Dean Forest Railway’s (DFR) September 9/10 diesel gala is Class 03 No. 03145. It is believed to be its debut appearance in passenger service on a public heritage railway.
The 0-6-0DM was built at Swindon in 1960 as No. D2145, with a cutdown cab for use on the Burry Port & Gwendraeth Valley line. It is now in the care of the D2578 Preservation Group which operates the private Moreton Park Railway within the confines of a secure industrial estate in Herefordshire. It is planned to use the loco on at least one full round trip of the DFR on both days.
Also visiting is EE Type 3 Class 37 No. 37227 from the Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway.
Residents running will be Class 08 No. D3937 (08769) Gladys and Class 14 D9521.
