The leading bogies of Bombardier M5000 tram No. 3096 became derailed on July 23 at the Trafford Centre in Manchester. The front part of the tram ran beyond the end of the line, coming to rest on the concrete grass blocks which separate the stop from a pedestrian area. Services were suspended while No. 3096 was rerailed and recovered. Transport for Greater Manchester says it has instructed the system’s operator KeolisAmey Metrolink to undertake an investigation into what happened.
