EAST Lancashire Railway (ELR) has appointed Lee Kenny as acting general manager for the rest of 2023.
The former deputy general manager joined the ELR over 28 years ago and has been ever present in the traction and rolling stock department before becoming head of the department 12 years ago.
Mr Kenny added:“This is a great opportunity for me personally to have the chance to lead the railway I have known and loved for almost three decades. “My focus for the rest of this year is delivery of key events like ourThomas, Halloween and Santa trains, and to continue the key work the ELR does engaging with key local stakeholders, the ELR trust partners and our own internal groups, and updating our staff and safety processes. “I am confident we can rise to every challenge as a team. The ELR is fuelled by our passionate, dedicated team of volunteers and staff and we couldn’t survive without their loyal support.”
Meanwhile, ELR chairman Mike Kelly has revealed that visitor numbers are down 20% year on year between March and July.
