THE 7¼in gauge railway located behind Cranmore signalbox, East Somerset Railway, held its inaugural open weekend over July 29/30.
The first day was in good weather, attracting a surprisingly large number of people in view of the very short notice, with trains running through to midnight. The following day saw heavy rain throughout and was a wash-out.
A number of visiting locos attended on the Saturday, including James Duncan’s LYR ‘Pug’0-4-0ST No. 51207,Tim Kay’s one-time Stockholes Farm Railway, Lincolnshire‘Holmside’0-6-0ST Bess, and‘scratch-built’Sentinel 4wDH type battery-electric in Esso red livery from Kieran Pickett, Swindon.
