Railway Modeller  |  October 2020
754 Railway of the Month
Bevois Park & St Denys
Portraying a slice of Hampshire’s railway network as it appeared in the early 1990s, this stunning N gauge layout is a testament to the long term dedication and enthusiasm of its creators Andrew and Simon Tucker.
762 Sacle Drawings
A plate girder bridge
Using his own scale drawings – prepared following a site survey and reproduced here – John Treays built a scale model of an overbridge that still carries Cattedown Road in Plymouth over what used to be the former GWR Sutton Harbour branch.
766 Hyde Lane
Nick Hughes describes this layout he and Norman Hughes built together for displaying their collection of diesel classes in O gauge. Nick also includes some tips for anyone contemplating a project with the C&L self-assembly track system.
772 Project of the Month
The station hotel
Stephen Taylor of the Glenrothes Model Railway Club guides us through the steps of building this complex but striking 4mm scale model – destined for a future club layout – which is based on an extant structure in Fife.
777 Meden Vale
Derek Gelsthorpe regales us with a light-hearted description of this small N gauge layout, which measures just 4' in length. Derek also reveals a few unorthodox tricks-of-the-trade that he used to help keep within budget, including a simple method for creating point operating rods.
780 Talking Points
Topical issues from the world of railway modelling. This month, the Gauge O Guild’s Jackie Kneeshaw describes how the power of digital technology has been harnessed to enable the organisation to stage an on-line ‘virtual’ event – to which everyone is invited.
782 Axebridge
The latest OO9 essay from narrow gauge modeller extraordinaire, Paul Windle. The basis of the model presented here was a surviving remnant from his Roth Valley Tramway layout – decommissioned in 1974!
