Birthstne Fascination

Uncommon Connections ofcommon Stones
Now in the British Museum, London, the skull of Anna Mitchell Hedges says she dug up in the 1920s.

What is it about certain stones that fascinate humans? No matter what your age, religion, or education, you most likely know your birthstone. Most also know their zodiac sign, which we oThen associate with birthstones. Birthstones span all cultures, so we treat them with some degree of respect or reverence. Some people have gone beyond that by investing in them some mystical power.

Birthstones had their beginnings in the Bible when “natal” stones were mentioned in the 5th century and again in the 12th century. We also directly relate them to the 12 stones in Aaron’s Breastplate.
