The Fontana Boathouse

One of Frank Lloyd Wright’s lasting legacies

In 1905, Frank Lloyd Wright, one of the most influential architects of the twentieth century, was asked by a family friend and rower to design a boathouse for the University of Wisconsin crew team. Unable to raise funds for the project, the distinctive design Wright produced was left unbuilt for over 100 years. Now, on the banks of the Niagara River, sits the physical manifestation of Wright’s architectural dynamism. A product of seven years of fundraising and planning, the classic blueprint was granted life for a new generation of athletes to mark an exciting era for the club.

Conferences can be conducted in the bespoke meeting area.
