Maadi Cup 2019

Christchurch Boys High School, winners of the Maadi Cup under-18 eight. Scott Shackleton (stroke), Tom Fraser, Cameron Long, Ethan Alderlieste, Cameron Henderson, Angus Templeton, James Glover, Ben Brown + Timothy Heritage (cox).

The AON Maadi Cup regatta for under-18s is the biggest and most prestigious event on the New Zealand rowing calendar. More than 3,000 of New Zealand’s 4,500 competitive rowers are secondary school rowers.

This makes the Maadi Cup the pinnacle event of the New Zealand rowing season. The 2019 Maadi Cup was held at the end of March at Lake Karapiro, the home of rowing in New Zealand. 2,152 competitors representing 129 schools raced over six days to decide the New Zealand Secondary Schools Champions in fifty events. There are four age groups from under-15s to under-18s, with all racing over 2,000 meters across 8 lanes.
