The Bosbaan, Amsterdam
The digging of the Bosbaan started in 1934, as a project for job creation during the financial crisis. The first rowing race was held there in 1937. From that moment on it was more or less the stomping ground of Holland’s elite athletes: rowers. But when the water freezes, the Dutch take to the ice. The bourgeois sport of ice skating is preferably done outside, like here on the Bosbaan in January 2009. ROW360
