With the Grand Final now in sight, another exciting domestic season is coming to a close, but the the time of going to press it is still anyone’s guess who will be lifting the trophy at Old Trafford.
Two likely candidates to be involved are halfbacks Danny McGuire and Luke Gale, providing he can get over his emergency appendix surgery in time to run out at the Theatre of Dreams should Castleford make it through the semis.
McGuire is an old hand when it comes to producing a big performance when it matters, but by contrast Gale has still to prove himself on the big stage. If they do both make the final they’ll have got there on very different career paths despite very similar beginnings and the pair talk to us about this later in this magazine.
The Super League Grand Final isn’t the first bit of silverware to be won this season and we speak to Challenge Cup and Lance Todd Trophy winner Marc Sneyd as well as taking a look back at some of the memorable moments from another enthralling day at Wembley.
We also see what happened when a bunch of ex-players dusted off their boots as part of a special testimonial event.
Further down the ranks we discover what it really takes to run a Championship club and also examine how moving grounds affects a club’s supporters.
We also take an in-depth look at York City Knights’ remarkable turnaround and meet a real life hero who is plying his trade in League 1.
