The design for an 80,000gt cruise ship developed by the China State Shipbuilding Corporation has been granted an Approval in Principle by the China Classification Society.
CSSC
The Beijing-headquartered China Classification Society (CCS) has given an Approval in Principle (AiP) to a design for a new 80,000gt cruise ship developed by, and in cooperation with, the China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC).
The proposed 293.5m by 34m vessel would meet the requirements of phase three of the IMO’s Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI), while its cabin planning and air-conditioning systems would meet the CCS’ EPC3 standards for Epidemic Prevention and Control in ships. Although the new vessel’s speed and capacity were not detailed, they are claimed to compare favourably with the most advanced of similar-sized cruise ships now trading internationally. JS
