Japan’s Ocean Network Express (ONE) is chartering a new series of 15,250TEU container ships from Hong Kong-based shipowner Seaspan.

Japan’s Ocean Network Express (ONE), established in 2017 to integrate the container operations of compatriot companies K Line, MOL and NYK, has placed the 157,000dwt One Freedom in service between Asia and Europe.
Completed by China’s Yangzijiang Shipbuilding as the first of seven similar 15,250TEU capacity ships being built for shipowner Seaspan, the newbuild measures 366m by 51m and can load 6,392TEU in the holds and 8,858TEU on deck, including 4,266 refrigerated units.
Hong Kong-based Seaspan, which has a fleet of 134 container ships with 67 more under construction, is owned by the London-headquartered Atlas Corporation, which was recently acquired by ONE and several of its partners for $10.9 billion. JS
