The paddlers Stadt Luzern (1928) and Schiller (1906).
SWISS LAKES
Only three of Lake Lucerne’s five operational paddle steamers took part in this year’s Swiss National Day parade in August, with Uri (1901), Gallia (1913) and Stadt Luzern (1928) in the line-up, while Unterwalden (1902) and Schiller (1906) were absent.
Thesteamerturn-outwas also depleted on Lake Geneva, with Rhône (1927) out of service for two days in mid-June before being withdrawn from 17 June to 24 July for engine repairs. The fleet’s largest paddler, La Suisse (1910), did not enter service until 29 June, and Savoie (1914) did not complete her timetabled sailings on 24 June due to a crew shortage. Three of the CGN fleet’s motor vessels also lay at Ouchy, Lausanne, not in service.
