The recently completed bulk carrier Vezhen is one of a growing number of ships being added to the Navigation Maritime Bulgare (Navibulgar) fleet.

State-owned Navigation Maritime Bulgare, established in 1892 and considered Bulgaria’s largest shipping company, has taken delivery of the 32,150dwt bulk carrier Shipka from China’s Jiangsu Yangzi Xinfu Shipbuilding Company as one of a series of eight new ships joining the Navibulgar fleet specifically designed to trade into the North American Great Lakes.
Previously delivered by the same yard have been sister ships Kom, Bogdan, Perelik, Verila and Vezhen while two more vessels of the series, Musala and Slavyanka, will be delivered in 2023. All eight ships are six-hatch 190m by 24m dry bulk carriers fitted with three deck cranes of 35-tonne capacity each and having a total grain capacity of 40,936m3 .
