INSTALLATION VESSEL
Norway’s Ulstein group has developed the design of a new foundation installation vessel for wind farm construction that would be fitted with an ultrahigh-capacity crane enabling operators to transport and install monopiles or jacket foundations of up to 5,000 tons in weight.
The 230m by 61.6m lowemission ship would feature Ulstein’s X-Bow while having a deck area of 10,000m2 and accommodation for up to 180 crew and technicians. There is a significant shortage of such foundation installation vessels currently on the market.
