Karen Hubbard
“The inspiration for most of my crochet patterns comes from nature, so when I was asked to take part in this Hook to Hook challenge, I was so excited! As soon as the yarn arrived, I knew the colours were absolutely perfect for making a badger. It was such an interesting yarn to work with and it gave this little critter a lovely natural finish. I think this badger’s head would make a super talking point when hung up on the wall!” Check out Karen’s work on

Hayley Shelton
“Since I was featured on Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas in 2020 making my Comet the Deer decoration, crochetdermy has become my crochet design niche! I was so excited to take part in this challenge, and when the wool arrived and I saw the colours, I knew they had to become a little Friesian cow. I love how it turned out, and I can imagine this displayed in a nursery, child’s bedroom or playroom.” See Hayley’s other crochetdermy creations on Instagram at @dotcraftstudio
Left to right: to work Karen’s adorable badger, first make an amigurumi head in white, then add brown stripes, a nose and ears, which are all worked separately; Karen was inspired to design a badger’s head because of the natural shades and texture of the Lopi Lettlopi yarn range
