Meet Tammy Fry Kelly
We talk to Tammy, international marketing director at Fry’s Foods and founder of Tough Love self-defence programme, about her passion and advocacy for plantbased nutrition and cruelty-free foods

What inspired you to become vegan?
I was born a vegetarian, so it was the next natural step for me. Not eating animals came from my deep love of all animals. I could never love them and eat them at the same time. I grew up on a goat farm in Cato Ridge, KZN. My pets were chickens, goats and dogs. We moved offthe farm and closer to the ocean – I learned to surf and dive. After witnessing the sensitive ecosystem under the water, the sheer beauty and the biodiversity, I was glad I didn’t eat seafood.
