HOPE HB.130

Price: £6,299.00 From: Hope Technology, hopetechhb.com

Hope Technology has always been delightfully cavalier over the years. Started initially after Ian and Simon began getting orders for the disc brakes they’d made for their own bikes, the company has grown organically since then. With no external investors to answer to, Hope has ploughed a distinctive furrow of UK-made brilliance. If the designers wanted to do more night riding, they just designed and built lights and figured that if Hope’s own staff wanted lights, or flat pedals, or complete wheels, it was reasonable to expect that customers would want to buy them too. And it turns out that the customers agreed.

The decision to make carbon frames seemed to have been a similarly organic process. Hope was already experimenting with producing carbon handlebars and road seatposts. It had the clean assembly room, the materials and the staff. All it needed was a bike design and a mould for it.
