Ghosts of Lincoln: Discovering His Paranormal Legacy. By Adam Selzer. Woodbury, MN: Llewellyn Worldwide, 2015. ISBN: 978-0-7387-4153-6. 330 pp. Paperback, $15.99.
Adam Selzer’ Ghosts of Lincoln: Dis covering His Paranormal Legacy is a roundup of anecdotes and claims about the great president’s in volvement in spiritualism, his paranormal experiences, sightings of his ghost and others, and other supernatural claims. It is published by Llewellyn, a purveyor of uncritical books on paranormal topics—that is, books aimed to sell. Typical of Llewellyn’s offerings is one I reviewed in a recent blog, an example of the genre I call “Haunting Hokum.” In it, the author uses such non-attribution phrases as “it is believed that” at least 111 times!
